2011 in Review – Goal 2, Do My First Triathlon!

As I wrote yesterday, I started out with 5 goals for 2011, and completed three of them (with varying success). Since it’s that time of year, I’m looking back to see what I did right, what I did wrong, and decide what goals I want to set for 2012.

Goal 2: Complete My First Triathlon (either Sprint or Olympic distance)

I rocked this goal! My experience at the Riding Mountain Triathlon was fantastic – I had so much fun! I did the sprint distance, simply because I was still recovering from my ankle injury so I needed a very short run distance. I had a terrific swim, and good bike (even though I hadn’t trained on hills, and these hills were steep!!), and a pretty good run. It was a total success, and has done nothing except make me want to keep doing more races!

I consider this goal completed successfully. For 2012 I plan to do more triathlons, and to complete my first Half Ironman one. It will require a LOT of training, but I’m excited about it!

#WEverb11 is at a close for 2011, it’s been fun! With only three prompts left we are down to the wire.

Begin to create a plan for “My friends day out 2012” – tell us what you envision.

This is going to sound so lonely and sad, and I don’t mean it that way… I don’t HAVE a lot of friends! I have lots of casual friends, but few close ones. And most of my friends are individual friends – I don’t have a large group of girlfriends that all do things together! At most, a couple of us might go out for lunch. I’m not good at staying connected with people, and this is one thing I want to work on in 2012. Staying connected is important! So this prompt is kind of a fail, I can’t plan a “day out”, but making friends and staying in touch is something I will try to be better at.

Goals update:

I had a lot of goals for yesterday. I did ok. I did 10 minutes of planks, push ups, crunches etc. – not much of a workout, but better than nothing. I worked on 3 different blog posts. I knocked more than 3 things off various To Do lists. I spent some time thinking about 2012 goals, although I’m still not done. I did NOT get the budget numbers done. So I feel OK about this!

Goals for today are the same as yesterday:

1) Write 2 blog posts
2) 1 workout
3) Work on 2012 goals
4) Finish budget calculations
5) Tackle 3 items on To Do lists (including call Rogers re cell phones!)

Having a small number of friends, but ones that you can always count on, is so much more important than having tons of acquaintances around you. Spending quality time with just one friend is very rewarding!

Very excited to hear about your upcoming races!

Yes – I have a few people I consider good friends, that I know I can call on if I really need them. 🙂

I’d much rather have a small group of friends that I really connect with than a huge group of friends that I’m just kind of friends with any day! I agree that staying connected is important and healthy, but I think it’s less about the number of people and more about the intimacy.
