Continuing with this week’s reflection on 2011, I started out with 5 goals for 2011, and completed three of them (with varying success). Since it’s that time of year, I’m looking back to see what I did right, what I did wrong, and decide what goals I want to set for 2012.
Goal 4: Launch 1 blog with regular posts (minimum 1 every 2 days)
Well, this one was a total success – I have been blogging regularly since January 1. I have skipped a day here and there, and my format has changed a lot, but I’m happy with the commitment I’ve made, and I’m actually having a lot of fun blogging. I’m still learning every day, I still need to figure out my “voice” and the direction I’m going with this blog, but the past year has taught me a lot, enough that I am now confident I can commit to another blog, which will be launching in January. I will say that my editing/proof-reading skills need work though. I hate proofing!
As for the two goals I did not complete? Well, 1 was to launch a consulting business and have 1 client by May 1. This goal saw no forward motion this year. I’m a terrific planner, but I suffer from analysis paralysis, and I hate, hate, HATE “sales” activities. So this year I’m setting a similar but much more low key goal.
And the other goal was debt related. I had some specific ideas about how much of our debt I wanted paid off this year, which got derailed by some significant income changes. So this is on-going, and will become part of 2012’s goals again too.

Were you happy with who you were in 2011? Who do you want to be in 2012 and beyond?
Was I happy with who I was in 2011… yes. I’m in a pretty good place in my life right now. There are definitely things I’m working on, but in general, life is good. I have a good marriage to a man who I am happy with, and our family is healthy and complete. My career is ticking along at a pace I’m satisfied with. Financially, we’re doing OK. And I was healthy this year, unlike last year, when I spent a lot of time being sick.
For 2012, I want to continue working on my health and my career, and to actively work to build a nice little side hustle to help pay for extras such as travel. 🙂
Yesterday I set the same goals as Wednesday. I actually did not bad, considering I’m sick! I woke up feeling lousy, and it went downhill from there. But I’d rather it be now, when I have 10 days to get better, instead of next week right before the races. So.. blog posts? Check. To Do list? Yes, I did 3 things (or more!), including arguing with Rogers (my cell service provider). I spent more than 3 hours sorting out technical difficulties with them, and my new e-reader provider (I won one, and so far it is NOT user friendly. 🙁 ). I worked on my goals, updated my budget (didn’t finish it, but I’m getting there), I did NOT work out. Not bad!
So lets try some of these again! Goals for today:
1) Write 2 blog posts
2) 1 workout
3) Take down Christmas stuff
4) Set up new blog & emails
5) Discuss budget with Bruce
6) Do laundry for Florida
7) Clean out fridge!
That should do it… maybe. 😉
