Fire Up For Fall – Week 2 Update

Weight Wars

Again hosted by the lovely Rebecca at Weight Wars, it’s time for some Fall fun and motivation! We have 10 weeks to set our goals, and work hard to achieve them! Last time, I did OK, but this time I want to really work to make it. It is Week 2, and time for a summary of how Week 1 went!

So, a bit about me – I’m Kris, a new triathlete and veteran of the weight loss world. I finally reached my goal weight in April of 2010, having lost a total of 107 pounds, and I’ve been able to keep it off (+/- 5 pounds) ever since. I blog here about running, triathlon, food, nutrition and weight loss, and anything else that strikes me! Welcome to my corner of the blog world. 🙂

OK first up – positive photos of the week! None of me, I’m afraid, but these sayings really picked me up so… (one week, I’m going to release my inner geek and post some “inspirational” Star Trek posters – OMG so funny!!)

And also…

On to this week’s questions!

1. What have you done this week to help you achieve your goals?

I’m tackling FUFF a little harder than I did the summer challenge – I’m working on my goals, and making progress already!

1) Training plan for Goofy – Yay! I have built 4 weeks’ worth of it! This week started rough, as I bailed on my Sunday swim session, but I did say stick with it 75%, and I’m trying. 🙂

2) Join a triathlon club or hire a trainer – actually started looking at trainer ads this past Sunday. Now I just need to email a few, and visit some tri club web pages.

3) Get in at least 5 workouts per week, of at least two different types – 1 swim, 1 run, 2 bikes, 1 weights – yup, done!

4) Invite 1 couple over for dinner – no action on this goal yet.

5) Calculate non-mortgage debt and payoff schedule: I’ve calculated the debt. Still working on the schedule.

6) Earn at least $200 in additional income: I’ve applied to be an elections worker in October for our provincial election; that will pay almost $200 right there! If that works, I’m set. I also want to sell a couple items we have laying around we no longer need.

7) Mini goals – this is working really well. I’m setting 3-4 goals, and most days I’m achieving them. I’m going to continue doing this!

2. What have you done to make yourself feel fabulous?

I’ve been pretty good at not eating away my anger and frustration! Normally when I’m this upset, I eat. A lot. I haven’t been working out, which I know would make me feel better, but I’m not eating. Other than that… not a week when I did a lot for myself.

3. What is your talent? What are you good at? {Genuinely, EVERYONE has
something big or small}

This one is tougher – I don’t have any traditional “talents” – can’t sing, or dance, or paint. I’m not very artistic, but I’m a good cook, and I’m good at organizing things! I see patterns easily, which makes problem solving easier for me.

4. What’s been the highlight of your week, toot your horn, what are you
proud of !

It was a rough week, BUT… I was elected to sit on the Board of Directors of the CMA (Certified Management Accountants) Society of Manitoba, a HUGE deal for me. I’m very excited and proud of that.

5. Fun Question: What’s your guilty pleasure TV?

This is a hard one! I don’t watch a lot of reality TV anymore – used to watch Hoarders, but stopped… maybe the Biggest Loser? I do love that show. 🙂 I don’t watch a lot of any TV really. No time!

OK, a mini goals update and new goals for today:

Yesterday I finished: all of the goals!! Ran my 9.0 miles, put away 10 items off the desk, crocheted more than 3 strips of afghan (!!) and did weights at the YMCA during Duncan’s swimming lesson. Victory!

Today I’m going to:

1) Swim 1 hour
2) Crochet 2 strips of afghan
3) Get to bed by 11:30
4) Get trained for election work (we got accepted!) AND get more tattoo done! Busy day!

I’m struggling to get enough sleep and get up in time to do a morning workout, so for the next few days, one of my mini goals will be to get to bed a little earlier!

Wow, you’ve got off to a good start with your goals already! Well done! 🙂

    • Kris says:

Thanks! Yes, this challenge I’m trying very hard to really get these goals accomplished – I didn’t set a weight goal because I knew it would be hard to stick to, so I set ones that I really wanted/needed to get done!

  2. Rebecca says:

Great starting point! I love your goals they are really inspiring x
