So I’m starting to compile this post on Sunday evening because when you read this, I will be enjoying my birthday vacation in Las Vegas. 🙂 So if I miss some good posts later in the week, I’ll include them in next week’s round up!
Oh my… Jon’s post had me laughing almost until I cried. Training does not own me, and 10 pm is not (yet) my bedtime… but as my training builds, I can see it happening! In the mean time… I’m going to enjoy a beer and a burger. 🙂
MCM Mama has my number this week… I’ve been sick for a couple of weeks, so I took some time off, and now I’m on the slippery slope too. Getting too lazy to run and looking for any excuse not to (hey, I’m on vacation, I don’t HAVE to, right?) Must get back on track ASAP!
Dorothy at Mile Posts wrote a great post about HOW to select a goal time for an upcoming race. Her times are incredible – her current marathon PR is 3:11, she’s training for 3:05 now, but she gives very smart advice about how she selected her goal. Picking a number out of thin air is asking for disappointment and potential injury – this post helps you be realistic.
Blog Wobble shared a few pictures from her past, and reflected on how the opinions of others shape how we see ourselves. It was a touching post, but so painful to read – aren’t we all shaped by what other people say about us or to us?
I don’t know how I missed this post last week – but I do, I’ve been stupid busy and have missed so many terrific posts from the RFSC group. But Maren’s letter to herself brought me to tears, and deserves a mention this week no matter what. We ALL deserve to love ourselves. No matter what. Maren is such a sweetheart that I can’t imagine anyone not adoring her, so this was especially hard to read.
As someone who is terrified of crashing on her bike, the story of Kristen as told by Swim Bike Mom scares the daylights out of me. All we can do is offer our support, hope, and prayers. Hopefully this young woman will recover fully from her awful crash.
Goals: Well I’m on vacation, so… no goals until I get back. 🙂 Hope you all have a great weekend!
