I didn’t have time to get a link post put together last week, and this week wound up being a bit of a train wreck – honestly, there are just not enough hours in a day! So even though I’m posting on Saturday rather than Friday, I didn’t want to let another week go by without sharing some good reads from around the web. Enjoy!
Angela at Eat, Spin, Repeat writes this week about Death by Desk Chair. Studies are proving that too much sitting is bad for you – and we all sit too much! I love the chair Angela has ordered for work, and her other solutions are good too. I know I spend far more time sitting at my desk than I’d like to.
OK, this link is a couple of weeks old, but it was a good read about relaxing your training schedule to allow for some fun. Kevin did his first Ironman last year, and is racing IM Mont Tremblant next weekend. This year, he allowed himself to have fun while training.
Someday, I want to do an ultra marathon. Brandon at I Run Alaska just completed a 50 Mile Ultra, and this is his incredible race recap. I still really, really want to do this one day…
Katie’s blog posts always make me smile, but in this one (and a couple more) she answers questions about her Ironman experience this year in Idaho – full of fantastic information and observations, this post is a must read for anyone thinking about doing an Ironman.
Speaking of must reads before doing an Ironman, Susan at No Meat Athlete gives the low down on the demands of Ironman racing in this post. Deciding an Ironman is not for you is OK. Frankly, as much as I want to do one, I think we’re all a little crazy.
I’m wrapping this week’s links with an Olympic post from DC Rainmaker. He and The Girl moved to Paris recently, and they spent a lot of time in London for the Olympics. He wrote summaries of their experiences watching football (soccer), women’s triathlon, men’s triathlon, and this incredible post about the women’s marathon. I didn’t know about the Irish runner – I think her refusing to quit is the best story of the day.
Goals update: I didn’t get all of Wednesday’s goals done – considering how low I set the bar, that’s kind of sad, but hey. I got 2/3 – no workout.
2. Run workout
3. 1 other workout
4. Write 3-4 blog posts
Sadly, I really think that’s all I can handle this weekend. It’s been crazy lately.
