Weekly Update – August 27, 2012

What a week! My stomach issues seemed to clear up, but definitely got better after I stopped eating gluten – I really want to think it’s all in my head, that there’s nothing really wrong with me, but I think I’m going to go get tested later this year. If it’s in my head, great. If not, at least I’ll know.

The last race of the season was yesterday, a full race recap is coming later this week, and my totals go into next week’s numbers, but it was fun!

Weigh in week is next weekend, so the numbers stay the some for one more week.

Weight Training

No weight training this week.

No yoga again this week, unfortunately. I just can’t seem to get my schedule to sync right. I’ve been feeling tired and rather blah, but hopefully that is coming to an end. I work my last four night shifts this week, then I can retrain my body to a normal schedule. Can’t wait!

Goals update: Hmmm, well, it turns out I got a lot done this weekend. Run 9 miles? No, I cut is short at 7.25 but I combined hills and my long run, so it HURT. Sprint tri? Yes. 5 blog posts? I wrote 3 complete, and worked on 5 other ones – I’ll take it! Muffins? Yep, and chilli too. As for the post it notes, I got one done completely, worked a little on two others, and added a whole bunch of new ones. Not a bad weekend at all.

Today’s goals:

1. Finish 2 blog posts
2. Build contact list for new job
3. Start on one organizing task

Considering I did the tri yesterday, I’m taking today off. I’ll have to run tomorrow, but today I rest.

    I’ve been doing a lot of reading on gluten & wheat and I can’t believe my eyes!! That stuff is from the devil!! Yes, I know that a lot of what I’m reading is slanted towards a particular stand point, but the fact remains that most people have some sort of intolerance towards it. We just don’t know it because we are so used to feeling bad – we don’t know what it feels like to feel good. That was the case for me anyway. I’m much better off without it – and I never in a million years thought I would be a ‘gluten free’ kinda gal.

      I’m still trying to figure out if I’m truly sensitive, or if it’s just some other issue, but since giving it up isn’t a major hardship for me, it seems easier to go that route. Bread is a major trigger food for me anyway!

    I’m participating in an upcoming challenge that calls for no wheat/gluten for 8 weeks. I’m interested to see how that goes for me. I’ve never really felt an adverse effects, but seeing as how so many people have cut out wheat and started to feel much better, I wonder how much better I will feel! Should be interesting.

      Good luck! I went gluten free for a while last year, and still find I feel better if I avoid it. I indulge once in a while, but too much definitely makes me bloated.
